Ready to kick off your day with some serious rod-bending action? Our 6-hour morning charter is the perfect way to start your Miami Beach adventure. We'll hit the water early, when the fish are hungry and the city's still waking up. You and five of your buddies will hop aboard our slick center console, and we'll cruise out to where the big ones are biting. Whether you're after the acrobatic King Mackerel, the tasty Grey Snapper, or the hard-fighting Grouper, we've got you covered. This isn't your average tourist trap fishing trip – we're talking about real, no-nonsense angling that'll have you hooked from the first cast.
On this trip, we're not messing around. We'll be using a mix of tried-and-true techniques to put you on the fish. We'll start by trolling the edges of Haulover Inlet, dragging lures that mimic baitfish and get those Kings fired up. When we hit the reefs, it's time to switch gears. We'll drop jigs down deep, working them with a twitch-and-reel motion that Groupers just can't resist. For the Snappers, we'll set up a chum slick and use light tackle for some non-stop action. Bottom fishing is the name of the game here – feel that telltale thump, set the hook, and hold on tight! We know these waters like the back of our hand, so we'll hit all the local honey holes where the big boys hang out.
"My son and I headed out for a fish with Bearcutbandit charters today. The weather wasn't kind but Alek still put us on some some awesome fish and we had a killer day! If you're in Miami, make sure you look Bearcutbandit charters up and get out for a fish with Alek 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼" - Stewart
"Great trip and Capt. Alek knows secrets! We started at 0700 with a trip down the beautiful Miami River. Picked up some live bait from a buddy of the Captain's outside Treasure Island. The Captain then put us on a spot that produced 30+ yellowtail snapper, 3 mackerel (1 keeper), and a bonita. We got a minimum of one bite per bait. Sometimes multiple bites per bait. Using mid-range spinning gear, it was non-stop action. Really, a perfect way to spend any morning. The Captain has a gorgeous center console that is perfect with this kind of trip. He is cordial, experienced, attentive, and focused on you having tight lines. We talked about many other fishing opportunities there in the Miami area and Capt. Alek would definitely be our go-to guy for exploring them. Highly recommend." - Karl
"Outstanding trip with my 13 year old son. We caught a few nice fat snappers, then went hunting for mahi and found a nice school! Kept 6 mahi and 3 snappers. Couldn't have been a better experience! Knowledgeable guide, independent operator, born & raised in these waters. He really knows how to put you on the fish! Filleted them perfectly for us as well (and I'm a Chef, pretty picky about that stuff). We will be back for sure!" - Jon
Gag Grouper: These bruisers are the heavyweight champs of the reef. Gags love to hang around structure, so we'll be dropping baits near wrecks and rocky outcrops. They hit hard and fight dirty, trying to wrap you around any obstacle they can find. The challenge? Getting them up before they break you off. Gags are most active in the cooler months, making fall and winter prime time for trophy catches.
Scamp Grouper: Don't let their smaller size fool you – Scamps are pound-for-pound some of the scrappiest fish in the sea. These guys are known for their sweet, white meat, making them a top pick for the dinner table. We usually find them in slightly deeper water than their Gag cousins, often hanging around ledges and drop-offs. They're suckers for a well-presented jig, and when they hit, it's game on!
Grey Snapper: Also known as Mangrove Snapper, these guys are the tricksters of the reef. They're smart, they're quick, and they'll test your skills as an angler. We'll use light tackle and small hooks to fool these wary fish. The best part? They school up, so when you find one, you've usually found a bunch. And let me tell you, there's nothing like pulling up a cooler full of these tasty critters.
Red Grouper: These copper-colored beauties are the workhorses of the Grouper family. They're not as big as Gags, but what they lack in size, they make up for in numbers and table fare. Red Groupers love to hang around rocky bottoms and reefs, and they'll crush a live bait or jig with equal enthusiasm. The fight is all about power – they'll try to dive back into their holes, so you've got to turn them quick!
King Mackerel: Hold onto your hats, folks, because when a King Mackerel hits, it's like lightning on the end of your line. These speedsters can top 40 miles per hour and are known for their screaming runs and acrobatic jumps. We'll troll for them along the edges of the reefs, where they hunt for schools of baitfish. Spring and fall are peak seasons, but you can catch Kings year-round in Miami. Just be ready – when that reel starts singing, you're in for one wild ride!
Look, I could go on all day about the fish we catch and the good times we have, but the truth is, you've got to experience it for yourself. This 6-hour trip is the real deal – no fluff, just straight-up fishing action that'll have you coming back for more. Whether you're a seasoned angler or it's your first time wetting a line, we've got you covered. We provide all the gear, the know-how, and the hotspots. All you need to bring is your game face and maybe a cooler for your catch (trust me, you're gonna need it). So what are you waiting for? The fish are biting, and your spot on the boat is waiting. Book now, and let's make some fishing memories that'll have you bragging to your buddies for years to come. See you on the water!

My 9 year old and I went out with Captain Alek and we caught fish in both the ocean and intercoastal. I really appreciated the time Alek gave to my 9 year old in helping him fish and be part of the fishing experience. Within 45 minutes of being out on the ocean reef we caught 2 king mackerel and then headed in for different fish. The 6 hours flew by as we had fun fishing and sight seeing. My 9 year old wanted to stay out longer and wants me to book another trip with Captain Alek. Highly recommend Captain Alek!

Gag Groupers are some of the heaviest hitters out here, typically 20-30 inches long and weighing up to 50 pounds. You'll find them hanging around rocky bottoms and reefs from 60-250 feet deep. These ambush predators love structure, so we target wrecks, ledges, and artificial reefs. Fall and winter are prime seasons when they move to shallower waters. Gags put up a serious fight - it's a true test of strength to haul one up. Their firm white meat is delicious too, making them popular for the dinner table. When you hook one, keep your rod tip up and crank steadily. Don't give them a chance to dive back into their hole or you'll lose 'em! Live bait like pinfish or mullet works great, but we also have success with big jigs bounced along the bottom.
Grey Snapper, also called mangrove snapper, are feisty little guys usually 1-2 feet long and 1-5 pounds. You'll find them around structure in shallow waters - mangroves, docks, reefs, and wrecks. They're most active at night and during tide changes. Grey snappers are known for their sharp eyes and quick strikes, making them a fun challenge to catch. Their flaky white meat is delicious too. Summer is prime time as they gather to spawn. Use light tackle with live shrimp or small baitfish. Here's a local trick: chum with cut bait to get them fired up, then drop your offering right in the mix. Be ready for a lightning-fast bite! Set the hook quick and keep tension to avoid getting wrapped in structure. It's fast, exciting fishing that'll keep you on your toes.
King Mackerel, or "kingfish," are sleek speedsters, typically 2-4 feet long and 10-30 pounds. You'll find them in open water from near-shore out to 150 feet deep. They're migratory, showing up here in spring and fall as they follow baitfish schools. Kings are famous for their blistering runs - when they hit, hold on tight! Their fight and tasty meat make them popular targets. We usually troll with live bait like blue runners or spoons. Here's a local trick: use a stinger rig with two hooks, as kings often strike the back half of the bait. When you see your line start screaming, let them run for a bit before slowly tightening the drag. It's an adrenaline rush reeling in these speedsters!
Red Grouper are hefty, rust-colored fish usually 2-3 feet long and 10-20 pounds. You'll find them over rocky bottoms and reefs from 50-300 feet deep. They're aggressive feeders, so they're fun to target year-round, but spring and fall are especially good. Reds put up a stubborn fight, using their broad tails to dive for cover. Anglers love the challenge and their sweet, firm meat. Live bait like pinfish or squid works well, but we also catch them on large jigs. Here's a tip: when you feel the bite, reel fast and pull hard to get them away from the bottom. If they make it back to their hole, you're in for a real tug-of-war! Keep steady pressure and be patient - it might take a while, but the reward is worth it.
Scamp Grouper are sleek, bronze-colored beauties usually 2-3 feet long and 5-15 pounds. You'll find them in deeper waters, typically 100-300 feet down near rocky ledges and wrecks. Spring and fall are prime seasons as they move to shallower areas. Scamps are prized for their sweet, delicate flavor - some say they're the best-tasting grouper. They're crafty fighters too, making a beeline for structure when hooked. Anglers love the challenge of outsmarting these wily fish. For best results, use live bait like pinfish or sardines. Drop it right into their lair and be ready for a quick, powerful strike. When you feel that thump, reel fast and steady to pull them away from the rocks. It's an exciting battle that'll test your skills and gear.
