Double the Fun: Large Group Catch & Cook

Ready for a fishing adventure that's twice as nice? Our Large Group Catch & Cook X2 Boats trip is perfect for crews looking to make some serious memories on the water. We're talking two boats, up to 12 people, and a day filled with fishing, feasting, and island vibes. It's the kind of trip that'll have you swapping fish tales for years to come.

Trip Overview

Picture this: You and your group split between two boats, lines in the water as the morning sun warms your face. We'll spend the first part of the day hunting for our lunch - yeah, you heard that right. You catch it, we cook it. After we've landed some keepers, we'll cruise over to a nearby island where you can kick back on the beach while we work our magic on the grill. And when I say magic, I mean it. We're talking fresh-caught fish done two ways: sizzling on the barbecue and sliced up sashimi-style. It's a feast fit for champions, and you're the ones who made it happen.

On the Water Action

We'll be using a mix of techniques to target different species. Expect to do some trolling for the speedsters like Cero Mackerel and Blackfin Tuna. For the bottom dwellers like Mutton Snapper and Black Grouper, we'll drop lines and jig. Yellow Jack? They're suckers for live bait, so we might throw some pilchards or sardines their way. Don't worry if you're new to this - our guides know these waters like the back of their hand and they'll show you the ropes. We've got all the gear you need, from rods and reels to lures and bait. Just bring your A-game and a good attitude, and we'll make sure you're hooked up in no time.

What Anglers Are Saying

"We booked two boats with Alek and Ozzy. They were phenomenal. Highly recommend these guys" - Brian

Fish on the Menu

Cero Mackerel: These speedsters are the drag-screamers of the bunch. Known for their blistering runs, Cero Mackerel put up a fight that'll have your arms burning. They're most active in the warmer months and love to chase fast-moving lures. Expect weights anywhere from 5 to 15 pounds - perfect for the grill.

Yellow Jack: Don't let their name fool you; these fish are anything but mellow. Yellow Jacks are strong fighters that'll test your stamina. They school up around reefs and wrecks, making them a blast to target. Their firm, white flesh is fantastic for sashimi, giving you a taste of the ocean's freshness.

Mutton Snapper: These beauties are the pride of many anglers. With their pinkish-red coloration and tasty fillets, Mutton Snapper are always a welcome sight. They're crafty bottom-dwellers, so finesse is key when targeting them. Spring and early summer are prime time for Muttons, and they make for some of the best fish tacos you'll ever have.

Black Grouper: The heavyweights of our local reefs, Black Grouper are the arm-wrenching, drag-testing fish that legends are made of. These ambush predators hang around structure, waiting to inhale anything that looks tasty. They're available year-round but really turn on in the cooler months. Their thick, white fillets are perfect for the barbecue - you won't find a better fish for grilling.

Blackfin Tuna: Speed demons of the deep, Blackfin Tuna are the sprinters of the sea. These torpedo-shaped fish will make your reel sing as they peel off line. They're most active in the fall and winter months, often found around dropoffs and underwater structures. Blackfin make for world-class sashimi - trust me, you haven't lived until you've tried fresh tuna straight from the ocean.

Time to Get Hooked

Look, I could go on all day about the fish you might catch or the laughs you'll share, but here's the bottom line: This trip is the real deal. You're not just booking a fishing charter; you're setting yourself up for a day of non-stop action, good eats, and memories that'll last a lifetime. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just looking to try something new with your crew, our Large Group Catch & Cook X2 Boats trip is the way to go. The fish are biting, the grill is ready, and we've got cold drinks on ice. All that's missing is you. So what do you say? Let's make it happen and get you out on the water. Trust me, your taste buds (and your Instagram feed) will thank you later.

Blackfin Tuna

Blackfin tuna are the smallest of the tunas, but they pack a punch. These torpedo-shaped fish usually run 5-30 pounds, with a dark back and silvery belly. You'll find them in warm offshore waters, often near the continental shelf. They're fast growers but short-lived, rarely making it past 5 years old. Blackfins form big schools, sometimes mixing with skipjack. They're most active in fall, winter, and spring around here. These fish are fierce fighters, especially on light tackle. Try vertical jigging or chunking for best results. Use 30-pound fluorocarbon leaders and 5/0 to 6/0 circle hooks - blackfins have sharp eyes and can be leader shy. Chum with live pilchards to get them fired up. The meat is excellent eaten fresh, whether grilled or as sashimi. For a real thrill, watch for them busting bait on the surface and cast poppers into the frenzy.

Blackfin Tuna

Black Grouper

Black groupers are powerhouses of the reef. These olive-gray fish with dark blotches can grow over 5 feet and 100 pounds, though most are 2-3 feet. You'll find them lurking around wrecks, ledges, and reefs in coastal waters. They're ambush predators, using their huge mouths to inhale prey whole. Black groupers move between shallow and deep water seasonally - look in 30 feet during winter, and up to 300 feet in summer. They're not fast swimmers, but man, can they pull. Bring heavy gear - at least an 80-pound braid with a 100-pound leader. These fish aren't picky eaters, so live or dead bait works. Drop it right to the bottom where they hide. When you feel a bite, crank hard and fast to keep them from diving back to the rocks. The meat is mild and firm, great for grilling. Just watch out for sharks trying to steal your catch!

Black Grouper

Cero Mackerel

Cero mackerel are sleek, fast swimmers found in warm coastal waters. They usually hang out near reefs and shipwrecks, often close to the surface. These fish typically run 5-10 pounds but can get up to 17. Look for them year-round, but they're most active in warmer months. Ceros put up a great fight on light tackle, making them fun to catch. Their razor-sharp teeth can slice through lighter lines, so use at least 20-pound test. These fish have excellent eyesight, so keep your leader thin. Try chumming with cut bait to get them fired up, then toss out a live pilchard or small jig. Topwater lures work great too since ceros often feed near the surface. The meat is mild and tasty, perfect for grilling or sashimi. For best results, work the edges of reefs where baitfish congregate.

Cero Mackerel

Yellow Jack

Yellow jacks are often overlooked, but they're a blast to catch. These golden-hued fish grow up to 39 inches and 31 pounds. You'll find them around offshore reefs and seagrass beds, sometimes hanging with schools of bigger fish. They're opportunistic feeders, so look for them swooping in on the action when larger predators stir things up. Yellow jacks fight hard for their size, especially on light tackle. Use a 10-15 pound line to feel those strikes. They've got sharp eyes, so keep your gear light and presentations natural. Pilchards are a top bait - try trolling them slowly. When you see a jack coming, give a slight pull back on your jig or bait. If they strike, reel fast! The meat can be fishy, but removing the bloodline helps. For the best action, target them in areas with good current flow near structure.

Yellow Jack

Mutton Snapper

Mutton snappers are prized catches, known for their fight and flavor. These olive-colored fish with blue facial streaks grow up to 37 inches, but most are around 20. Look for them near reefs, mangroves, and areas with good tidal flow, typically in 80-300 feet of water. Adults prefer rocky areas, while younger fish hang in sandy spots. They're more solitary than other snappers, so you might only see a few together. Spring and summer are prime seasons when they move to shallower waters. Use fresh bait and light sinkers - presentation is key with these smart fish. Try drifting baits in your chum slick or using a knocker rig. When hooked, they'll make a run for structure, so be ready. The real thrill is seeing that flash of pink as you bring one up. For the tastiest fillets, ice them down quick.
